Passport to the World Breakfast

Keynote by Mimi Gardner Gates, Director, Seattle Art Museum

Please join us on Wednesday, April 29 for the World Affairs Council’s “Passport to the World” breakfast. This year, the breakfast will take place at the Seattle Center, Fisher Pavilion.

This fun and informative breakfast will be an opportunity to hear from and about a few of the many people who have benefited from the work of the council - teachers, students, and International Visitor Program (IVP) guests from 125+ different countries.

Funds raised through this event will support all aspects of our work in the coming year.
These include 80+ Community Programs on global topics; the Council’s International Visitor Program (IVP), which hosts professional visitors and students from 100+ nations; and our Global Classroom Program, reaching over 60,000 K-12 students and teachers through teacher workshops, curriculum support, and youth leadership activities.

Remarks will be made by Mimi Gardner Gates. Dr. Gates came to Seattle in 1994 to head the Seattle Art Museum. In addition to adding over 2,500 works to the SAM collection, Mimi has overseen the opening of two local art treasures- the Seattle Asian Art Museum and the Olympic Sculpture Park. She serves on the Yale Corporation, Yale University’s governing body, and is the author of Porcelain Stories: From China to Europe and Biblical Art and the Asian Imagination.

This event is free, but pre-registration is required - please click here now or call us at 206-441-5910 to reserve your seat or table. We expect this popular and festive event to sell out; quickly, so register today!

We are currently inviting our most involved and dedicated members and supporters to be Table Captains for this event. Your role as a Table Captain will be to invite and host a table of 10 globally-minded friends, colleagues, family members, golf partners, or anyone else who shares your passion for international issues and cultural exchange.

A request for support will be made as part of the program. Although guests are under no obligation to make a contribution, gifts of at least $150 (no maximum!) are greatly appreciated, and needed to support our work in 2009.

If you would like to bring a group of 10 globally-minded individuals together to attend this complimentary event, please contact Marguerite Miller, Director of Development, at 206-441-5910, or mmiller@world-affairs.org.

Upon registration, you will be signed up for our bi-weekly newsletter, which provides updates on upcoming programs. If you do not wish to receive this newsletter please contact wac@world-affairs.org
