Opportunities

Internship positions
at the World Affairs Council:
Administration
- Information Systems & Facilities Support
- Database
administration support including contact management, donor tracking,
event registration, data entry and funds processing support.
- Learn,
use and research new and diverse technologies to assist in daily
office activities including facilities management, supply inventory,
and workflow processes.

Multimedia filing system protocols as well as general mailing,
faxing, and telephone support.
- Website
management support using Macromedia Dreamweaver.

Support event planning of major fundraisers (Spring and Fall).
- Attend
Council events and assist in direct recruitment of members and
marketing of the World Affairs Council.
- Coordinate
special projects as assigned.
Community
Programs
- Coordinate
logistics of Community Programs, including assisting in developing
outreach strategies, booking venues, event registration, and speaker
correspondence.
- Research
and propose new ideas for programs.
- Serve
as point person for volunteers.
- Attend
Community and Global Classroom programs, and provide program support.
- Support
event planning of major fundraisers (Spring and Fall).
- Assist
with marketing and publicizing of events.
- Research
and follow up on new ways to market the Council's programs, including
the placement of advertisements, flyer distribution, and collaboration
with other local organizations.
- Assist
with other projects as needed.
Meet
your Community Programs Supervisor: Tony Ramsey
Global
Classroom
- Work
with teachers and visitors to plan school visits. Interns attend
visits when possible.

Coordinate ongoing schools programs, including speaker programs,
attendance by students to community programs and youth summits,
professional development programs for teachers, and special events
(i.e. conferences, education role in Council fundraisers).
- Support
newsletter and weekly email newsletter publication through resource
research.
- Support
Global Classroom fundraising effort according to interest and
possibility.
- Coordinate
the World Citizen Essay Contest.

Attend Community and Global Classroom programs, and provide program
support.
- Support
on-going maintenance of the GC Database.
- Research
curriculum and resources to supplement professional development
programs for educators.
- Assist
with other projects as needed.
Meet
your Global Classroom Supervisors: Tese Neighbor, Laura Adriance,
and Christina Hirsch
International
Visitor Program
- Research
local resources and issues for programs or proposals.
- Assemble
visitor itineraries.
- Write
proposals for upcoming events.
- Prepare
local programs and welcome packets.
- Produce
marketing materials.
- Maintain
database.
- Attend
meetings with international visitors.
Meet

Membership
& Outreach
- Act
as the main support person for the Council-wide Membership Program
to help recruit and retain members.

Assist, develop, and implement strategies to broaden and diversify
membership.
- Support
with the organization and development of new outreach events to
promote membership growth.
- Attend
Council events and assist in direct recruitment of members and
marketing of the World Affairs Council.

Learn and use new and diverse technologies to assist in daily
activities and program management. Support Council-wide marketing
efforts to include promoting the Council’s events, website,
membership, and programs.
Meet
Your Membership and Outreach Supervisor: Gabe Meyer and Marguerite
Miller
Development
- Support
with data management and tracking related to current and prospective
donors.

Assist with the planning and development for major fundraising
and other events.
- Produce
invitations, acknowledgement and follow-up correspondence with
donors, event attendees, and board members
- Conduct
background research for the Development Office
