& Discussion at the YPIN Global Leader Dinner with Lew Macfarlane

YPIN
members met Lew Macfarlane, retired U.S. diplomat and international
business specialist, in an informal environment over African cuisine.
Lew discussed his career as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer and everybody
engaged in conversation about current global issues. YPIN members
left with great contacts and a list of Lew’s suggested readings.

YPIN
members and guests got to connect with each other and a delegation
of international visitors from Russia; all while boating around Lake
Union with food and drinks. The group said this was "one of the
most fun and engaging events I have ever gone to." |

Prior
to a lecture about social entrepreneurs, YPIN members and guests mingled
at a reception for author and journalist David Bornstein. Everybody
enjoyed food and drink, made great contacts, and prepared for an engaging
evening. |

Good
food, fun, and education were hand in hand at this YPIN event about
the culture and international relations of South Asia. After Indian
food, a presentation on U.S. - Pakistan and Pakistan – India
relations was followed by a group discussion. |

It
was a relaxed and fun atmosphere for YPIN members and prospective
members at this YPIN Happy Hour. The evening presented an opportunity
to meet new people (including international visitors), discuss international
affairs, and enjoy drink and food specials. |

This
special event opened the door for many young professionals to begin
pursuing an internationally focused career. A networking session was
followed by a light reception and panel discussion on how to build
a successful career in international affairs. |
