As relations between Russia and the West continue to deteriorate, tensions along Russia’s borders with NATO and the European Union have been rising. Finland, which has a complex history with Russia, is among the EU states pushing for deeper security and defense integration in the face of ongoing concern over Russian motives in actions in Europe. Finnish Ambassador to the United States Kirsti Kauppi will join the World Affairs Council to discuss Finland’s concerns and priorities in the region and the changing nature of the security environment.
The World Affairs Council is pleased to partner with the Rainier Club to welcome Ambassador Kauppi to Seattle on November 2 for a dinner discussion at the Rainier Club. Registration is $78 and includes dinner, wine, tax, and service.
Ambassador Kirsti Kauppi previously served as Director General for Political Affairs at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Helsinki, as well as Director General for Africa and Middle East. Formerly Ambassador to Austria, she is now Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the UN-related international organizations located in Vienna.
