#HiddenNoMore: Empowering Women Leaders in STEM
October 19th, 2017
In October, the World Affairs Council of Seattle was extremely honored to welcome a high profile international delegation of 22 women from around the world participating in the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.
#HiddenNoMore: Empowering Women Leaders in STEM was organized after screenings of the Oscar nominated film, Hidden Figures, in U.S. embassies worldwide sparked an unprecedented outpouring of support and enthusiasm to bring women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) together for dialogue and action. The women nominated for this program spent three weeks in the U.S. where they had the opportunity to engage with their American counterparts working to educate, mentor, and empower women and girls in STEM.
On the evening of Thursday, October 19th, the World Affairs Council hosted this delegation for a public community event. Select delegates participated in a panel discussion about their experiences as women working in STEM and their advice for other women and girls interested in pursuing STEM careers, followed by a complimentary networking reception with all 22 women.
