Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Exchange Program: 7 English language administrators from around the world will meet with their Seattle counterparts to exchange perspectives and experiences on English language instruction, curricula, trends, and developments in new and innovative teaching practices.
English Language Teaching: 4 visitors from Turkmenistan will visit Seattle to learn about interactive tools, distance education, trends in online education, and new teaching methods that blend technology with increased teacher interaction.
Transforming Education in the Digital Age: 5 visitors from Armenia will come to Seattle to explore the tendencies and successes of e-learning strategies at U.S. education institutions and how technologies are incorporated in the educational process.
International Women of Courage (IWOC) Awardee: The Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage Award (IWOC) annually recognizes women around the globe who have demonstrated exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for peace, justice, human rights, gender equality, and women’s empowerment, often at great personal risk and sacrifice. An IWOC awardee will visit Seattle for an individualized programming focused on women in law enforcement and counter-terrorism efforts.
U.S Trade Policy: A group of 5 visitors from Angola will visit Seattle to examine innovative strategies for promoting regional economic development and competitiveness in the global marketplace.
Women as Change Makers in Economic and Social Development: A group of 5 visitors from Haiti will come to Seattle to examine the role of civic organizations in promoting the participation of women in their communities and to explore advocacy strategies, strategic planning methods, and management styles that facilitate community advancement and women’s leadership.
Protecting Soft Targets Against Terrorist Attacks: A group of 21 international government and law enforcement officials from around the world will visit Seattle to examine strategies used by federal government and local law enforcement agencies to prevent terrorist attacks that target public spaces.
Entrepreneurship as the Engine of Prosperity and Stability: 29 visitors from around the world will come to Seattle to examine the economic, political, and social factors that influence and encourage the development of small businesses, entrepreneurship, and innovation in the United States.
Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis: 7 visitors will come to Seattle to examine the U.S. response, both public and private, to addressing illicit drug use, including education strategies and treatment at the national, state, and local levels.
