“International Conflict on a Cyber Battlefield” – WAC 6/1/2016 Event

In a sold out event on June 1, the World Affairs Council explored the cyberspace frontier, and its implications for state to state interaction, particularly as a new battleground between governments. Our discussion was led by Dr. Adam Segal from the Council on Foreign Relations, and moderated by Simon Liepold from Microsoft’s Global Government Affairs team. Dr. Segal is the recent author of The Hacked World Order: How Nations Fight, Trade, Maneuver, and Manipulate in the Digital Age.

Specific areas of conversation included cooperation and tension between private and public entities over cybersecurity, the ways nations fight in the cyber world, the debate over what constitutes a cyber attack and the response that is warranted, and the positives and negatives of the internet of things.
