Julie Bouanna
Julie was raised in Bellevue, Washington by French immigrant parents. Growing up bilingual and with dual citizenship, Julie discovered her passion for international relations early on. This brought her to study international relations at the University of Washington, where she is currently a senior getting a BA in Political Science and International Studies with a focus on foreign policy, diplomacy, peace and security. Her studies brought her to Brazil in the summer of 2019, where she learned about racism and antiracism in Afro and indigenous Brazilian communities, and the importance of grassroots mobilization in social movements. After graduation, Julie hopes to get a master's degree in Foreign Policy, and eventually work in the State Department.
Through her previous work at the French Consular Agency and French-American Chamber of Commerce, Julie has gained valuable experience in the international professional environment and with community organizing.
Julie was drawn to the World Affairs Council because of its crucial role in bringing important global issues into the local Seattle community. She looks forward to working with the rest of her team at the World Affairs Council to make Seattle a global city.
