Meet Our Fellow: Ahmed Fahad

Why did you apply for/join the Fellows program?
I joined because I wanted to connect with others doing meaningful global work and to expand my understanding of international issues. As an educator, I saw it as a way to bring global perspectives into my classroom and community. My institution, Highline College, highly value global engagement I was honored to be their representative in this prestigious fellow program.
What did you gain from the experience?
It was a great experience. I learned so much from the speakers and connected with inspiring people doing important work. The conversations helped me relate global topics to my role at the college. I’m active in our international student programs, have led study abroad trips to Indonesia, and currently serve as an English Language Specialist for the U.S. Department of State. The Fellowship gave me valuable perspective to bring into all of that work.
What was your favorite aspect of the program or speaker that you heard from and why?
I enjoyed the range of topics and the chance to hear directly from experts. Being able to engage in conversation and ask questions made the experience personal and meaningful. I also appreciated connecting with the Council staff and have since become a volunteer in their programs. A very rewarding experience.
What would you say to incoming applicants about the program? Would you encourage people in your field or organization to apply?
Absolutely! I highly recommend the program, especially to educators and those in public service. It’s a powerful way to grow, gain insight, and build meaningful connections.
