Amy Stern
Amy Stern is a senior attorney and public policy expert with over twelve years of experience with the U.S. Department of State. She served as the Legal Adviser at the U.S. Mission to the European Union from 2021-2024 where she led multi-stakeholder engagement with the European Commission on data privacy, artificial intelligence, sanctions, media freedom, and rule of law. Prior to her time in Brussels, Amy led maritime boundary negotiations and other engagements with foreign governments as the Department of State’s law of the sea expert. She also represented U.S. interests before the International Court of Justice and other UN bodies. Amy earned her JD from the University of Virginia School of Law and her BA in international studies from the University of Washington.
