Alex Baerg
Captain Alexander Baerg is a native of Everett, Washington and a 2000 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
Captain Baerg’s operational assignments include tours as division officer on USS GEORGIA (SSGN 729), Navigator on Advanced SEAL Delivery System (ASDS‐1), Engineer on USS LOUISVILLE (SSN 724) and Executive Officer on USS MAINE (SSBN 741). He commanded USS NEBRASKA (SSBN 739) where his crew was awarded the 2020 Pacific Fleet Arleigh Burke Trophy for extraordinary improvement upon completing a refueling overhaul.
His staff assignments include Chief Staff Officer for Naval Special Warfare Task Force – Arabian Peninsula, Squadron Engineer of Submarine Development Squadron 5, Deputy Director of the Navy’s House of Representatives Congressional Liaison office, Deputy for Readiness and Training, Submarine Squadron 17, and Deputy Director and Operations Division Chief, at Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) Enterprise Center (NEC). Captain Baerg currently serves as the Executive Officer of Naval Base Kitsap.
He and his wife Nichole have three children, Elizabeth, Matthew and Eleanor. They reside in Silverdale, WA. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various unit, service, and campaign awards.
