What Is the Global Classroom Educator Fellowship?

The Global Classroom Educator Fellowship (GCEF) is a pilot-year professional learning community that supports educators in integrating global perspectives and real-world issues into their classrooms.

Through a combination of virtual learning sessions, in-person workshops, and collaborative projects, fellows explore how global topics connect to local communities — helping students think critically, engage thoughtfully, and better understand the world around them.

The fellowship aligns with Washington State Learning Standards, emphasizing civic engagement, inquiry, cultural understanding, and communication across subject areas.

These sessions are ideal for:

• K–12 educators across all subject areas

• Classroom teachers, instructional coaches, specialists, and administrators

• Educators in formal or informal learning environments

• Anyone interested in global education, civic engagement, or inquiry-based learning

No prior global studies experience is required.

About the Fellowship (At a Glance)

• Cost: $500 for the full year (payment options available)

• Program Dates: August 2026 – June 2027

• Format: Hybrid (monthly virtual sessions + quarterly in-person workshops)

• Cohort Size: 20–30 educators

• Clock Hours: Up to 40–45 OSPI-approved clock hours

• Eligibility: Open to K–12 educators in the greater Seattle Area
