Join the World Affairs Council and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Center for an educator workshop that takes a closer look at efforts to prevent, control, and eradicate some of the world’s most neglected diseases. Be among the first to hear about the upcoming exhibit, Countdown to Zero opening on March 1st, and learn from our panel of expert speakers involved in combating disease and committed to global health education:

• Nana-Kwadwo Biritwum, Program Officer, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will share insights and experiences from his work on Neglected Tropical Diseases in Ghana.

•  Tami Carabello, Science teacher at Glacier Peak High School, will share her work in and out of the classroom on disease eradication.

•  Zeta Strickland, Director Pre K-12 Engagement, Pacific Science Center, will discuss perspectives on disease and new immunology Exhibit opening in early 2018

Join the discussion with our panel and your peers to explore how fighting disease intersects with cross-disciplinary topics such as gender, race, and poverty. Additional opportunities include Virtual Reality videos, the Immunology Exhibit at the Pacific Science Center, and the opportunity to schedule a free Skype in the Classroom Virtual Tour. Global Classroom will also provide an in-depth resource packet for all participants, providing lesson plan ideas, background information, and useful links on disease eradication and global health.

The workshop cost is $20 and includes food, 3 FREE clock hours, and an in-depth curriculum resource guide on the topic. Validated parking is also available.
