Join YPIN and other globally minded young professionals on November 7th, for Global Leader Cocktail Hour! Enjoy an evening of conversation and cocktails with Ryan Calkins, a commissioner on the Port of Seattle Commission, who focuses on sustainable economic development at the Port of Seattle, working to ensure that our region's prosperity is shared among all of our communities.

Elected to the Port of Seattle Commission in 2017, Ryan also works as a nonprofit professional at Ventures, a charitable organization that supports low income entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses in the Puget Sound area. Prior to these two positions, Ryan worked in disaster relief, human rights nonprofits, and ran an import and distribution company in Seattle for more than a decade, garnering recognition for its industry-leading sustainability initiatives.

Come down to Columbia Bank's new Ballard NeighborHub to join Ryan and YPIN to discuss Ryan's background and how it relates to working as Port Commissioner, the role of the port within our local economy and politics, and how the port is influenced by changes in the political climate.
