July 1st, 2020
The International Visitor Leadership Program was postponed by the U.S. Department of State Office of International Visitors through September due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The originally scheduled programs listed below will be rescheduled to a later date.
Transparency and Accountability in Government: A group of 18 visitors from Africa will visit Seattle to examine how transparency and accountability in government ensures public trust in the integrity and fairness of elected officials and public servants. In addition to highlighting mechanisms for transparency in government in the United States, the project will address the roles of civil society and the media as watchdogs and catalysts for the creation and maintenance of transparent and accountable government.
Women and Entrepreneurship: A group of 15 visitors from Africa will visit Seattle to examine the impact of women-owned businesses on the U.S. economy and explore the progress of women in participating more fully in the global economy. They will discuss the social, economic, and political factors that influence and encourage women as entrepreneurs and owners or managers of small, medium, and large-scale businesses.
