Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management I – 11 visitors from around the world will visit Seattle to examine best practices in emergency preparedness, management, planning, and coordination among federal, state, and local governments and the private sector.
Political Cartooning – 6 visitors from the Middle East and North Africa will visit Seattle to examine the role played by political cartoonists in the United States and their influence on public opinion and government policy. They will also explore constitutionally guaranteed press freedoms in the United States and the importance of effective political cartooning and its contributions to civic activism.
Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management II – 8 visitors from Asia will visit Seattle to investigate how various stakeholders anticipate and develop contingency plans for natural disasters, pandemics, technological hazards, and/or terrorism threats.
Rule of Law and the U.S. Judicial System – 23 visitors from around the world will visit Seattle to examine the underlying principles of the U.S. judicial and legal systems and their basis in the Constitution and the rule of law. They will also use their time in Seattle to gain a deeper understanding of the federal and state judicial systems for both criminal and civil matters under the U.S. model of federalism.
