On October 24, NBR will be hosting a hybrid roundtable titled “Unlocking the Future: Science and Technology Diplomacy Between the United States and the Republic of Korea.” As two of the world’s most advanced economies with a strong history of cooperation, the United States and the Republic of Korea (ROK) are well positioned to lead global efforts towards an open, innovative, and sustainable future in the Indo-Pacific. One area with significant potential for collaboration is that of science and technology research, development, and diplomacy. The United States and the Republic of Korea have mature and innovative technology sectors, and are working on promising technologies that could change how we move people and products, transform our digital ecosystem, and revolutionize the global economy. Yet concerns around intellectual property protection, supply chains, and national security can create barriers for cooperation in such cutting-edge technology. This roundtable will identify ways in which U.S.-ROK cooperation can strengthen environments for research and innovation to enable productive science and technology diplomacy.
Join The National Bureau for Asian Research in partnership with the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle for this in-person at the Lotte Hotel in Seattle or online. A link to join the event will be emailed to registered virtual attendees.
