WAC Global Connections Club | Digital Influence & Media Literacy
December 10th, 2025 4:00PM -5:00PM
How do TikTok trends spread so quickly? Why do some news stories appear in your feed while others never do? And with AI-generated images and videos becoming increasingly realistic, how can we tell what’s real and what’s not? Join us for an interactive WAC Global Connections Club session on Digital Influence & Media Literacy, where we’ll explore how media shapes our understanding of the world and the decisions we make every day. Together, we’ll look at how headlines, images, and editing influence our perceptions, examine the difference between misinformation and disinformation, and take a closer look at the growing impact of AI-created content and deepfakes.
This one-hour session will include real-world examples, a quick “Real or AI?” challenge, and practical strategies to help participants think critically about what they see online. Whether you’re a middle or high school student navigating social media, looking to build media literacy skills, or wanting tools to support thoughtful online habits, this session will provide valuable insights and resources. Join us on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025 from 4:00–5:00 PM PT via Zoom for a lively and informative conversation.
This event is free and open to students and youth ; no prior knowledge needed, just curiosity!
