YPIN Cooking Around the World During COVID – Japan!

Join YPIN for a journey to Japan through food! We’re hosting a virtual happy hour focused on the delights of Japanese cooking. Come prepared to talk about a recipe that you’ve recently made, demonstrate a quick cooking how-to, share a Japanese food or travel-related story, or recommend a favorite Japanese restaurant in Seattle for take-out!
Need recipe ideas? Try making grilled onigiri, slow cooker chicken ramen, soba noodles with shrimp, or okonomiyaki (savory veggie pancakes). Not a home chef? Consider ordering takeout from a local Seattle restaurant such as Tsukushinbo, Kamonegi, Maneki, Yoroshiku, or Fuji Bakery.
We suggest that you watch Episode 2: Salt from Samin Nosrat’s Netflix show Salt Fat Acid Heat for Japanese cooking inspiration and some fun facts in advance. We’ll plan on discussing tips and tricks from her show during the event. We recommend bringing a glass of sake or a cold Asahi!
