YPIN Podcast Club: Wind of Change (Part 1 of 2)
January 13th, 2021 6:00PM -7:00PM
Are you passionate about the fall of the Soviet Union, hair bands, and/or international espionage? Do you think leather pants and geopolitics will always be in style? Then this two-part series of the YPIN Podcast Club is for you! Across two separate sessions, we will discuss the podcast “Wind of Change” by Patrick Radden Keefe.
Description of Apple Podcasts: “It’s 1990. The Berlin Wall just fell. The Soviet Union is on the verge of collapse. And the soundtrack to the revolution is one of the best-selling songs of all time, the metal ballad “Wind of Change,” by the Scorpions. Decades later, journalist Patrick Radden Keefe heard a rumor: the song wasn’t written by the Scorpions. It was written by the CIA. This is his journey to find the truth. Wind of Change is an Original Series from Pineapple Street Studios, Crooked Media and Spotify.”
Part One of the podcast club series will cover episodes 1 through 4 of “Wind of Change” – please listen to the episodes in anticipation of the event! We will come together virtually on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, to discuss the podcast and its themes, as well as to share our theories on who actually wrote the song!
Part Two of the podcast club series will cover the remaining episodes of the podcast (5 through 8). Find more information on Part Two on the YPIN Events page!
*Please note – participation in Part One of the podcast club series is not mandatory for attending Part Two in February. All are welcome at either or both events (even if you weren’t able to finish all of the episodes)!
This is a free, virtual program open to the public. The link and instructions on how to join will be sent to registrants in advance of the event. Please be sure to provide a valid email address with your registration.
