Captain Alan Schrader
Capt. Alan Schrader graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. Additionally, he holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Colorado in Electrical Engineering. A career submariner, he has served on three different platforms including on USS Kentucky as Executive Officer and as Commanding Officer of USS Nevada, both homeported in Naval Base Kitsap (NBK). CAPT Schrader most recently served as Operations, Evaluation, and Training Branch Head for Strategic Systems Programs. In Sept. 2016, Capt. Schrader returned to Washington State to assume command of Naval Base Kitsap (NBK), which encompasses nearly 11,000 acres in Washington, Alaska and a site in British Columbia. Locally, NBK’s installations include Bangor, Bremerton, Jackson Park, Keyport, and Manchester.
