Desirée Gould
Desirée (Des) Gould is a creative educator, facilitator, and program leader whose work centers on global citizenship, intercultural engagement, and student belonging. Drawing on experiences that span multiple countries and educational settings, she creates learning environments where young people feel empowered to connect across cultures and imagine new possibilities for themselves and their communities.
Originally from Arizona, Des attended Spelman College in Atlanta before studying abroad in Seoul, South Korea. That experience launched an international education career that took her from teaching elementary students in South Korea to teaching creative writing and literature to middle and high school students in Beijing, China.
Now based in Seattle, Des serves as Director of Student Success and Belonging for a nonprofit afterschool program focused on global citizenship education. She has also led students on educational journeys to Morocco, Taiwan, and Kyrgyzstan, experiences that continue to shape her belief in the transformative power of global learning.
Her work integrates social-emotional learning, culturally responsive teaching, community values, and youth development. Above all, Des is committed to ensuring that every student feels welcomed, seen, and supported. Outside of work, she enjoys dancing, creating playlists, cooking, and spending time in community.
