Emma Schweiger
Emma Schweiger is a senior at the University of Washington majoring in Public Health and minoring in International Studies. Originally from Napa, California, Emma came to Seattle for college because of its inspiring and innovative nature. With her degree, she hopes to pursue a career in the intersection between global health and international affairs as she has an interest in humanitarian aid and emergency relief work. Her current areas of interest include Middle Eastern affairs, the refugee crisis, and current global health issues.
Emma's strong passion for understanding different cultures and international travel led her to spend three months in Bangalore, India working to improve formal financial systems for under-served migrant communities in rural settings. She will be traveling to Nepal at the end of the year to spend time in rural health clinics learning about different approaches to cardiovascular health, infectious diseases, and trauma care in hospitals. These passions ultimately led her to the World Affairs Council, as a Development Intern. In her free time, Emma enjoys trying new foods, traveling, reading new books, and exploring Seattle.
