Heidi Obermeyer
Heidi Obermeyer is Senior Analyst for Technology at Onyx Strategic Insights, a geopolitical and macro consulting firm based in Seattle. Her work at Onyx focuses on how global trends impact the tech industry and includes research and analysis on topics such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and privacy. Prior to joining Onyx she was a Policy Manager at BSA | The Software Alliance in Washington, DC where she worked in global government affairs and advocacy on behalf of the enterprise software industry, including on issues around responsible AI and open data.
In 2017/2018 she was one of ten Americans awarded a German Chancellor Fellowship by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, during which she completed research at the German Council on Foreign Relations in Berlin on the impact of geopolitical issues on small and medium-sized businesses. Prior to that she worked at the Center for Transatlantic Relations at Johns Hopkins University SAIS on transatlantic topics including trade, security, and the transatlantic digital economy. Obermeyer holds an MA in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BA from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Anthropology, Germanic Studies, and International Affairs. She speaks German and some French, Spanish, and Russian.
