Jiwon Kim
Jiwon is a second-year International Studies-International Business major at the University of California, San Diego. Jiwon’s exposure to diverse borders spanning the DMZ, the U.S.-Canada border, and the U.S.-Mexico border has developed a profound appreciation for how human connection transcends boundaries. Her experience as an immigrant in Seattle instilled a lasting love for the city and a strong commitment to promote cross-cultural understanding.
Jiwon’s passion for problem-solving and systemic change with people has driven her work across city government, nonprofit, philanthropy, and advocacy. She has written and presented policy proposals for the City of Carlsbad and Seattle Public Schools. From organizing the Teen Action Fair at the Gates Foundation, to her involvement with clemency, Jiwon loves to create space for meaningful dialogue and change.
At UC San Diego, Jiwon serves as Culture Director for her student council, Standards for her pre-law fraternity, and a research assistant. She is also a member of UCSD’s consulting club and a contributing writer for Prospect, the university’s international affairs journal.
Jiwon is excited to contribute her event planning experience and deepen her research skills in pursuit of a career in international business, diplomacy, or public policy. In her free time, she finds joy in going to concerts, collecting vintage finds, salsa dancing, and discovering new cuisines.
