Johannes Klein
Johannes Klein is a software engineer with over 40 years of experience. Most recently he was a member of Oracle’s technical leadership team building the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and modernizing electronic healthcare management systems. Prior to joining Oracle in 2016 he worked 15 years at Microsoft on big data and mobile phone services as well as BizTalk one of the first commercial workflow management systems. Johannes joined Microsoft in 2000 moving from the Bay Area to Seattle as a Tandem/HP fellow. At Tandem he worked on large scale, fault tolerant database and transaction processing systems, helped start Tandem’s database lab at the Technion in Haifa and spearheaded cross-industry efforts to make Enterprise Java (J2EE) a de-facto industry standard. Johannes got his MS in computer science from the University of Stuttgart later working as research assistant for Prof. Dr. Reuter. He moved to the Bay Area in 1989 joining Digital Equipment’s workflow management effort. In 1985 he spent several month traveling in China and saw first hand its transition to a market economy.
