Kim Ta
Originally from Vietnam, Kim is an incoming freshman at University of Washington, Seattle. Through Running Start at North Seattle College, Kim has an Associate of Science in Political Science and is continuing to expand her studies by pursing a bachelor’s degree in both political science and sociology. Kim has focused her research on politics in developing countries, partisan theory, and political ideology development.
Aside from school, Kim is currently teaching Confirmation class at her local church, where she has coordinated and planned overnights, major mass services, and three night-long retreats for over 100 participants. Working with students from many different backgrounds, she is passionate about connecting with global citizens and engaging in conversations around important issues. Leading discussions on topics such as global conflict and state-church relationships, Kim is inspired to continue further exploration on international relationships and connections. Being bilingual in Vietnamese and English, she finds it important to have these conversations in different languages and thrives to learn more languages. Kim is excited to join the World Affairs Council and hopes to contribute in the effort to pursue passionate and critical dialogues. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and baking.
