Malavika Jagannathan is the assistant director of content for the University of Washington’s marketing and communications team. She helps tell the story of the UW to its many audiences through storytelling, advertising and signature events. A journalist by training, Malavika is an experienced writer and communicator who has worked in local news, travel and higher education. Throughout her career, she has brought her global outlook and an equity lens to her work, striving to uplift voices and stories from diverse communities. Malavika holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies from the University of Wisconsin. She is a passionate advocate for animal rescue and welfare, and currently serves on the board of directors for Homeward Pet Adoption Center, one of Washington’s leading no-kill animal shelters.
