Mariam Gohar
Mariam Gohar joined the World Affairs Council as a Program Coordinator for the Global Leadership Exchange in 2026. Mariam holds a B.A. in Political Science and French with minors in Middle Eastern Studies and African & African American Studies from Seattle University. Growing up in Egypt and experiencing the 2011 Egyptian Revolution at a young age sparked her passion for social justice and global engagement. Additionally, her study abroad experiences in Senegal, France, and Guatemala further deepened her commitment to international dialogue and intercultural exchange. She completed two theses, one examining the history of racialization and anti-Blackness in North Africa, and another analyzing North African migration governance. Her previous experiences include working in congressional offices, community-based organizations, immigrant and refugee youth education, and as a French tutor. In her free time, she enjoys reading, exploring new cafes, and going to museums and poetry events.
