Penelope Owen
Penelope is a senior at the Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences currently doing her senior project with the World Affairs Council. The senior project program gives each 12th grade student the opportunity to gain professional experience in a chosen field by interning at an organization that interests them during the final month of their senior year. Penelope was drawn to the Council through her interest in global affairs and her plan to study international relations and history at the University of St. Andrews this fall. By the end of her internship, she hopes to have a better understanding of what it's like to work in an office environment, as well as what a career in international relations might entail.
Penelope was a member of Seattle Academy's high school forensics team from 9th-12th grades, and was elected class co-president in junior year. For the last two years, Penelope has been developing a board game which promotes solving climate change using international negotiation and cooperation.
