Richard Rhinehart
Captain Richard Rhinehart is the Commanding Officer of Naval Base Kitsap, headquartered in Bremerton, Washington. As Commanding Officer, he leads an organization comprised of more than 1,700 military and civilian personnel that provide services to over 70 on-site organizations. Naval Base Kitsap supports a population of 75,000+ military personnel, civilian employees, defense contractors, and resident families that live and work across 12,000 acres spread throughout various locations in the states of Washington, Alaska, and Idaho and British Columbia, Canada. A native of Ellsworth, Ohio, Captain Rhinehart is a graduate of Miami University where he earned a bachelors in Mathematics and the University of Michigan where he earned a Masters in Aerospace Engineering. Captain Rhinehart served as commanding officer of the Submarine USS NORTH CAROLINA (SSN 777) where he did two six-month western-pacific deployments. His at-sea experience includes six submarine deployments to various regions of the world and five strategic deterrent patrols. Captain Rhinehart's duty ashore includes serving on the staffs of U.S. Naval Forces Europe in London, England, Commander, Task Force 69 in Naples, Italy, and NATO Allied Maritime Command in Northwood, United Kingdom.
