Steve Garlid
Steve Garlid is a fifth-grade teacher at Bryant Elementary School and has devoted more than three decades to educating students in Seattle Public Schools. A Seattle native and graduate of Seattle schools himself, Steve earned his graduate degree in education from Antioch University Seattle before beginning his teaching career in 1994.
For most of his career, Steve has taught fifth grade, a year he considers especially meaningful because it represents a pivotal transition between childhood and adolescence. He is passionate about helping students navigate this stage with curiosity, confidence, and a growing awareness of the world around them.
As he approaches the conclusion of a distinguished teaching career, Steve continues to seek new opportunities for growth and reflection. He looks forward to engaging with fellow educators through the fellowship and exploring how global learning can continue to shape both his teaching and his next chapter beyond the classroom.
