Yean Kim
Yean is a senior at the University of Washington pursuing a BA in International Studies and a BS in Economics. Throughout his studies, he has developed a passion for international security and human rights, market regulation, and the intersection of economics and international relations. He also has an interest in emerging issues such as artificial intelligence and climate change, and the international implications of such issues. He has experience conducting research in a variety of global issues and is currently conducting research on the North Korean state ideology and its nuclear weapons program, as well as real estate market regulation. After graduation, Yean has a plan to go to law school to learn more about international and/or economic law.
Through his work at the Consulate of Mexico in Seattle, Yean has gotten valuable experience working in an international environment and successfully planning and promoting community events. It has also taught him the importance of cross-cultural international understanding. This was what drew him to the World Affairs Council, as he views its work in advancing global understanding in the Seattle area as essential. He looks forward to interning at the World Affairs Council and supporting its operations.
