Global Classroom is excited to pilot our first Asynchronous Series for K-12 educators, Reorienting Africa in the Classroom: An Introduction to the Modern African State. Through short films, workshops, and classroom visits, the series will address misconceptions and stereotypes about the history, culture, and geography of Africa and dispel inaccurate depictions of normative life that are often made to reflect Africa as a whole. This series will introduce the “Modern African State,” it’s prominent role in the future as the world continues to expand, and will provide K-12 educators with the tools and resources to strengthen their curriculum and bring the world into their classrooms!
This Asynchronous Series was created in Canvas and consists of 10 short videos and activities that teachers will be able to access and complete (at their own pace) beginning December 1st, 2022 throughout the remaining school year (June 2023). Countries highlighted in the series include Senegal, Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia, Morocco, Sudan, and South Sudan. Please see below for the series breakdown,
